Superwhisper pricing

Superwhisper lists three paid ways to buy: $8.49 a month, $84.99 a year (which it describes as two months free) and a $249.99 lifetime licence. One licence covers all your devices. The free plan keeps working after the first 3,000 words, but with local models and up to two modes. If you plan to use dictation for years and dislike subscriptions, that lifetime licence is the main difference: neither Wispr Flow nor Talkativ lists a one-off licence.

Superwhisper for Windows

Superwhisper has a Windows app for Windows 10 and 11, with a download on its Windows page. That page also says your audio never leaves your machine, because the speech models run on your own computer. If you work somewhere with no internet, that is the reason to pick it over Talkativ or Wispr Flow. If you are looking for a Superwhisper alternative on Windows for other reasons, such as price, the table above shows where the other two sit. Check its page for model and hardware details, as we have not tested it.

Choose Superwhisper if…

  • you need to dictate offline
  • you want to pay once rather than monthly
  • you want to transcribe audio files as well as dictate live
  • you want the same app on Mac, Windows, iPhone and Android

Choose Wispr Flow if…

  • you want an app that runs on all four platforms with company plans and security paperwork (SOC 2 Type II, ISO 27001, HIPAA, as listed on its website)
  • you want a dictionary and Command Mode in one cloud app
  • your company wants single sign-on (its Growth plan lists it)

See Wispr Flow pricing, plan by plan for the detail of its free plan, which its own pages describe in two ways.

Choose Talkativ if…

  • the yearly price matters: Pro is $56 a year, and the yearly plans give you 4 months free
  • you want a free plan with no card and a hard weekly limit you can see
  • you mostly need one shortcut that works in every app on a computer
  • you want a Vocabulary list and a searchable history of everything you dictated

Press Ctrl + Space on Windows, ⌥ Option + Space on a Mac to start, talk, and press again to stop. It is press to start and press to stop, not hold to talk, and the shortcut keys cannot be changed.

What Talkativ does not do

Talkativ has no phone app. It does not work offline. It does not transcribe audio files. It does not claim SOC 2 or HIPAA certificates. And the shortcuts are fixed. If you need any of those, Superwhisper or Wispr Flow is the better pick.

The Mac app runs on Apple silicon Macs. If you work on a Mac, our Mac dictation apps compared page covers more options, including MacWhisper and VoiceInk, and MacWhisper Pro alternatives explains the difference between live dictation and file transcription.

Which one for which person

  • A developer or writer who is often offline. Superwhisper.
  • Someone who wants phone and desktop in one app, with company features. Wispr Flow.
  • One person who wants the lowest yearly price of these three, on a Windows PC or a Mac. Talkativ; start with the free plan.

If you are still weighing up, Wispr Flow alternatives lists more options for each need. Read about Talkativ on Windows and Talkativ on Mac, or go back to the Talkativ home page.

Questions

The short answers. More questions

Yes. Superwhisper's Windows page offers a download for Windows 10 and 11 (checked 6 November 2026). It also lists Mac, iPhone and Android.

Its documentation pages show Pro at $8.49 a month, $84.99 a year, or $249.99 once for a lifetime licence, with a 40% student discount. There is also a free plan. Check superwhisper.com before you pay, because we could not read its homepage price cleanly.

On 5 November 2026 prices, Superwhisper Pro is $84.99 a year and Wispr Flow Pro is $144 a year. Superwhisper also sells a one-off lifetime licence. Talkativ Pro is $56 a year.

Superwhisper says it does, with models that run on your device. Wispr Flow's pages we read do not say it works offline. Talkativ does not: it needs an internet connection.

Talkativ is for people who want one shortcut that types into any app on Windows or Mac, at a lower price. It has no phone app, no offline mode and no file transcription, so Superwhisper or Wispr Flow suit those needs better.
