A free dictation app with a weekly allowance
Press a shortcut in any app, talk, and Talkativ types your words where your cursor is. Punctuation and capital letters come by default, and “um” and “uh” are left out. On the Free plan you get:
- 2,200 words a week, reset every 7 days.
- Every app you can type in. There is nothing to set up for each one.
- 100 languages, highly accurate in 56.
- Vocabulary, a list of names and words you want spelt your way.
- Advanced formatting, switched on in Settings: numbered lists, money symbols, email addresses, links and times.

A free speech to text app, with no card
There is no card to enter and nothing to cancel. You sign in with Google or with an email and a password, and you can use Talkativ for as long as you like within the weekly allowance. The app shows the words you have used, the words you have left and the days until your allowance resets.
How to start
- Download Talkativ for your computer.
- Sign in with Google, or with an email and password.
- Click into any text box, press Ctrl + Space on Windows, ⌥ Option + Space on a Mac, speak, and press it again.
The shortcut is Ctrl+Space on Windows and Option+Space on a Mac. You press once to start and once to stop. You can also click the small mic dot that floats above your taskbar or Dock. The shortcuts are fixed, so there is nothing to set up.
How the 2,200 words work
Your allowance is one block of words that refills all at once, 7 days after your week began. It does not trickle back a little at a time. If you reach the limit, dictation waits until the reset date. Moving up to Pro takes the limit away.
What you can do with 2,200 words
That is enough to try Talkativ in the apps you really use. Dictate a few emails, a handful of messages, or the first draft of a document. Add your own names to Vocabulary and see them come out right. Switch on Advanced formatting and say a list, an amount of money or a time. Talkativ keeps a searchable history, so you can look back at what you dictated.

- Paying yearly gives you 4 months free.

Paying later is optional
