Talkativ is a desktop app
Talkativ is made for Mac and Windows computers. Download it on the computer you want to use it on, or send the download link to your computer and open it there. Then press Ctrl + Space on Windows, ⌥ Option + Space on a Mac in any app and speak. Not sure yet? Take a look at the homepage first.
Download Talkativ for Mac
For Macs with Apple silicon (M1 or newer). See Talkativ for Mac for more.
After you download it:
- Open the downloaded file and drag Talkativ into Applications.
- Open Talkativ from Applications. The first time, your Mac asks you to confirm you want to open it.
- Allow Microphone and Accessibility when Talkativ asks. It needs them to hear you and to type into other apps.
- Click into any text box, press Option+Space, speak, then press it again.
Download Talkativ for Windows
For Windows 10 and 11 (64-bit). See Talkativ for Windows for more.
After you download it:
- Open the downloaded installer.
- If Windows asks whether you want to run it, confirm.
- Sign in. Talkativ then waits in your system tray.
- Click into any text box, press Ctrl+Space (on a Mac it is Option+Space), speak, then press it again.
What happens after you install
The first time you open Talkativ, it guides you through setup. You sign in, then do your first dictation in a practice box before going live. After that, Talkativ waits quietly in the system tray on Windows, or the menu bar on a Mac, until you press the shortcut. The shortcut is fixed, so you do not need to set anything up. Our FAQ covers microphone and permission problems.
You start on the Free plan: 2,200 words a week, reset every 7 days. See pricing when you want more.
Send the download link to your computer
Reading this on a phone, or on a computer you do not want to install on? Talkativ runs on computers, not phones, so on a phone the download buttons become “Email me the download link”. Type your email address and we send you one email with the download link, to open on your computer.
That one email is all we send. You are not added to any list.
Good to know
Intel Macs and phones are not supported. See what is new in the changelog, or read the FAQ.
